Character Sketching…

I remember coming across an intriguing character in the street a while ago.  A woman wearing 2 raincoats, sheltering under her hood and her brolly. Baguette sticking out of her laden-down shopping bag and wild, wispy grey hair poking out from under her hood. So I had to sketch her didn't I?! I've since seen her again when it wasn't raining, still wearing the two raincoats. Love it! Gillian :)...

Golf Project…

[caption width="1366" id="attachment_21295" align="aligncenter"] Bad Griesbach, Germany [/caption] Hello everyone - it's been quite a while since I last blogged. Work has gotten in the way over the last few months, but when you work for yourself that's a good complaint. But I've decided that's no excuse to stop blogging. If anything it's a nice (productive) distraction from work now and again. I've been wanting to start a project that highlights my combined love of golf and illustration. And it trying to plan it I've gotten myself wound up thinking I need to focus my attention solely on...

MASTERS: Legend#3

Hi guys,   It's here! It's finally here! They're on the course so it's officially Major season! (Currently Tongchai Jaidee is leading)   Today's illustration is a little more obscure but to the aficionado's out there he'll be well known.   he is a legend in a different kind of way to the others I've highlighted so far this week, in that he's never actually won the Masters. In fact, he only ever played it twice. Missing the cut on both occasions. But for other reasons he is a true golfing legend. He had a style all of his own, copied now by Bryson Dechambeau. He...

MASTERS: Legend #2

Hi guys,   Following on from yesterdays first "Masters: Legend#1" illustration, comes the second installment. Arguably the greatest legend of them all and certainly one of the true gentlemen of the game, Mr. Arnold Palmer. I am lucky enough to have a personally signed Bay Hill flag from Arnie, which hangs pride of place in the house (thanks Stu).   He put on the green jacket in '58, '60, '62 & '64.   Here he is in front of the azaleas:)   Dave DMD...

MASTERS: Legend #1

Hi guys,   It's one of the most eagerly awaited weeks on the golfing calendar. The first sight of Magnolia Lane, the azaleas that frame the fairways & greens, the first tee announcer crying " Fore please, Jordan Spieth now driving". The whole occasion is one that all golfers look forward to all year & it is finally up on us.   I'm going to challenge myself to illustrate a past winner a day for the duration of the week. I'm going to kick start it with one of the most charismatic players of his day. The '49, '52 & '54 Green jacket recipient,...

BEER WITH DAVE: GALWAY BAY & TEELING WHISKEY PRESENT TWO HUNDRED FATHOMS

Well now!  This is one of those beers that you hear about well in advance. Not just of tasting but before it has even cracked into production.  Anticipation ramped up recently when I discovered that the collaboration between Galway Bay Brewery & Teeling Whiskey was going to be hitting the shelves of my local off-licence.  So following a greatly appreciated tweet from O'Brien's, Naas I hightailed it down there to pick up my bottle!   All I can say is, it was worth the wait.   This almost completely black imperial stout hits you with a beautiful coffee aroma before finishing with the subtle flavours...
